Finally here! We were going to stay across the river in Liberty Park – but remembered at the last minute that it was September 11th! and the City goes into lockdown for security reasons! So at the last minute, we decided to stay an hour outside of New York City on the Hudson River. We stayed at Croton State Park RV Park. Right on the river and quite beautiful. We took the train into New York and got around on the subway. Not nearly as intimidating as we were led to believe. Just confusing: Uptown, Downtown, Across town really mean something!!! We could spend an entire week in the city, but we prioritized just what we would see. “Can’t see it all!” is our new mantra! So we decided on Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Time Square, Grand Central Station, Little Italy, Ground Zero and the new 9/11 Memorial.
