Texas Hill Country

We sure have been enjoying our time in New Braunfels, Texas.  We have been driving through the Lovely Hill Country!  We have seen Live music in the Famous Gruene Dance Hall.  Many Country stars have gotten their starts there.  We have heard good Blues Music at Oma Gruene’s Secret Garden, Great Tex Mex at the Dance Hall, and Fantastic Bluegrass at Black’s BBQ in Lockhart. Imagine that, BBQ and Bluegrass in the same place!  Our favorite two things.  We also went to Luckenbach Texas.  Didn’t see Waylon or Willie there, but you can see from this pic that it is a fun place.  Live music every day and quite the cowboy character in the general store.

We also went to the Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood near Dripping Springs, Franklin BBQ in Austin.  I am thinking of starting a page of the BBQ Places, so we can rate them for you.  Anyone interested?  All of the BBQ in Texas is good.  Most too peppery for this writer, but Randy is in heaven!  The Ribs at Black’s were perfect (and I could eat them.  Texas is better known for their Brisket, and Randy is drooling.  Plan on hitting another one or two this week, before we leave for Corpus Christi.

We also spent the day in San Antonio, and were lucky enough to visit the Alamo on a day they were honoring Disabled Veterans!  It was a wonderful program, and the Veterans were gifted Segways to help them get around.  The Alamo itself was quite the shrine to the Texan spirit and the beginning of the American pride.  It was quite the battle!  We also toured the famous River Walk.  We rode in the water and walked the wonderful walkways.  We also stopped for lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack!
  More Later everyone!
